To ensure safe, appropriate and qualified care for individuals whose needs align with the home’s license, staffing capacity and environment, below are some FAQs to determine whether someone might be a good fit for Rabbit Creek Vista.

Be 18 years or older (or other specified age range if applicable).
Have a primary diagnosis of Intellectual or Developmental Disability (IDD).
Be ambulatory (able to move independently or with minimal assistance; wheelchair users cannot be accommodated due to building restrictions).
Be able to participate in daily living routines and social activities with staff support.
Demonstrate stable medical and behavioral status, not requiring continuous nursing care or acute behavioral interventions.

Non-ambulatory individuals (those requiring a wheelchair for mobility).
Medically fragile individuals, including those who:
Require skilled nursing services or continuous medical monitoring.
Depend on ventilators, feeding tubes, or complex medication administration beyond staff capacity.
Individuals with acute or severe behavioral concerns, such as:
Frequent aggression or self-injurious behaviors that endanger self or others.
A history of behavior requiring physical restraints or intensive crisis intervention.
Residents requiring psychiatric stabilization or substance withdrawal management.

Be able to communicate needs and follow simple directions (verbally or through supported communication methods).
Exhibit emotional and behavioral stability suitable for a group living environment.
Be able to evacuate independently in emergency situations.

In-person evaluation to confirm compatibility with current residents and facility environment.

Capacity limitations: Admissions are based on room availability and staff ratios.
Ongoing suitability: Residents must continue to meet criteria for safe participation in the home, and the safety and well-being of peers and staff.
Discharge planning: Initiated if individual needs exceed facility licensing or staffing capabilities.

Rabbit Creek Vista ALF accepts both IDD Medicaid Waiver participants and private pay residents.
IDD Medicaid Waiver:
Services are funded through the State of Alaska’s Medicaid Waiver Program for eligible individuals with IDD. Coverage typically includes residential habilitation, personal care assistance, and support services as outlined in each individual’s plan of care.Private Pay:
Private pay rates are determined individually based on the level of support, shared living arrangements, and any additional personal services requested.
A written service agreement outlines all costs prior to admission.
Payment options include monthly billing, ACH transfers, or third-party representative payee arrangements.
